Why Should I Try Curling? Discover One of Canada's Most Social Sports!

Curling is a fun way to stay active during the winter months; it combines friendly competition, strategy, and social connection in a way few sports can.

Whether you are joining with friends, looking to meet new people, or trying it for the first time, Burlington Golf and Country Club provides a welcoming environment for curlers of all ages and experience levels.

Many of our Members had never stepped onto the ice before joining. Today, they are part of a thriving curling community that enjoys leagues, social events, bonspiels, and time spent together both on and off the ice!

What Is Curling?

Curling is a team sport played on ice where players slide stones toward a target while teammates sweep the ice to influence the stone's path and speed. Often described as a combination of strategy, teamwork, and precision, curling is easy to learn but challenging to master making it enjoyable and accessible for players of all skill levels.

The sport is known for its strong traditions of sportsmanship and camaraderie, making it one of the most welcoming athletic communities you will find.

Getting Started Is Easier Than You Think

You do not need previous experience to begin curling at Burlington Golf and Country Club.

We offer:

  • Learn to Curl clinics for beginners
  • Instruction from our Curling Professional Peter Corner
  • Practice ice
  • Day-use brooms, sliders, and grippers
  • Welcoming leagues suitable for new curlers!

Our goal is to help you feel comfortable and confident on the ice from your very first visit.

What Should I Wear?

Dress in warm, layered clothing that allows you to move comfortably while sweeping.

Please wear clean running shoes to help protect the ice surface. We also strongly recommend protective headgear until you feel confident moving on the ice.

Do I Need To Buy Equipment?

No.

We provide brooms, sliders, and grippers so you can get started right away.

As you become more involved in the sport, you may wish to purchase your own curling shoes and broom. Our Professional Shop can help you select equipment that best suits your needs.

Beyond The Ice

Curling Membership at Burlington Golf includes much more than league play.

Members enjoy access to Clubhouse dining, social events, bonspiels, golf simulators, and a welcoming community that extends well beyond the curling season.

Many Members join for the sport but stay for the friendships.
